Drivers on Dallas Parkway in Prosper and Celina face another week of lane closures starting Monday, Aug. 17, as construction on the $459.7 million Dallas North Tollway Extension Project continues.

The North Texas Tollway Authority announced Friday, Aug. 14, that scheduled closures will run from Monday, Aug. 17, through Saturday, Aug. 22. The NTTA's lane closures database confirms a closure at Dallas Parkway at FM 428 beginning at 6:30 a.m. Aug. 17 and ending at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22.

Delays are possible.

During the prior week's closure window (Aug. 10-15), NTTA closed the northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Parkway from First Street to FM 428 daily, along with a westbound turn lane on Dallas Parkway that was closed continuously. NTTA's advisory for Aug. 17-22 includes a map with specific closure details for the coming week, though the agency has followed the same Monday-through-Saturday pattern on this corridor since at least March 2026.

The closures are part of Phase 4A, which extends the Dallas North Tollway approximately six miles north from U.S. 380 to FM 428 through the heart of both communities. Current work includes mainlane paving from First Street to Light Farms Way, concrete placement at Doe Branch Creek, Punk Carter Parkway and Collin County Outer Loop, and build-out of the FM 428 intersection, which NTTA expects to continue through late summer or early fall 2026.

NTTA has advised drivers to seek alternate routes when closures are active. The agency is targeting a late 2027 opening for Phase 4A.

As we reported July 29, the Town of Prosper and City of Celina are expected to reimburse approximately $16 million of the project's cost to NTTA by 2027. The project also includes new overpasses at First Street, Prosper Trail and Frontier Parkway.
