Drivers in Prosper and Celina are dealing with lane closures on Dallas Parkway this week as construction on the Dallas North Tollway Extension continues.

The North Texas Tollway Authority announced that the northbound and southbound left lane of Dallas Parkway from First Street to FM 428 will be closed daily from Monday, July 27, through Saturday, August 1. The NTTA posted the advisory on its official traffic-alert account on X on Friday, July 24, and on its Facebook page.

That stretch of Dallas Parkway runs through the heart of the Phase 4A construction zone, which extends the tollway approximately six miles north from U.S. 380 to FM 428.

The closures are part of a pattern. NTTA has issued weekly construction-closure advisories for the corridor since at least March 2026, affecting intersections and lanes as crews build the new toll road.

What's being built

Phase 4A includes new overpasses at First Street, Prosper Trail, and Frontier Parkway. In an April 2026 update on Facebook, NTTA said crews were setting beams, placing deck panels, and pouring concrete for the main lanes. The authority is targeting a late 2027 opening for Phase 4A, weather permitting.

The project carries a total estimated cost of $459.7 million, according to NTTA's FY2026–FY2030 Capital Plan. The Town of Prosper and City of Celina are expected to reimburse approximately $16 million of that cost to NTTA by 2027, according to the same capital budget documents.

Construction on Phase 4A began in fiscal year 2024. NTTA says the extension will connect downtown Dallas to the growing Prosper and Celina communities once complete. A second phase, Phase 4B, would continue the tollway from FM 428 to the Grayson County line, though NTTA lists that completion date as "to be determined."
