The Prosper Community Library will host its first disABILITY Social Kickoff on Thursday, Aug. 27, a free evening of food, games and conversation for adults 18 and older with autism or other disabilities.

The event runs from 6 to 7 p.m. at the library, 200 S. Main St. No registration is required.

The kickoff doubles as an introduction to the town's SuperStars program, which pairs Parks & Recreation with the library to offer inclusive programming for residents with special needs and their families. Attendees will get a first look at activities planned for the coming months.

The SuperStars website describes the program as serving children with special needs, making the Aug. 27 gathering the first event to target adults specifically. The Town of Prosper said in a Facebook post that the initiative creates opportunities for residents with special needs and their families through inclusive recreation and community events, and that the town strives to provide programming that builds relationships for individuals of all abilities.

The new offering arrives as Prosper's population continues to surge. The town reached roughly 48,889 residents in 2025, a 58.7% jump from its 2020 Census count of about 30,816, according to growth data compiled by Kitching & Co. That pace has pushed the library to plan a major expansion, with a facility master plan outlining options ranging from 33,000 to 72,000 square feet.
