Thirteen Prosper High School seniors scored high enough on the PSAT (Preliminary SAT) to earn National Merit Semifinalist status, the school's student newspaper Eagle Nation Online reported on Monday, Sept. 28.

The honorees are Sahasra Dittakavi, Shreshta Reddy Gangadi, Keerti Harish, Sanjay Jillellamudi, Shriya Katta, Sruthi Kotamraju, Anubhav Mohapatra, Shriya Nellore, Eeshan Parvataneni, Shreyansh Rath, Arihaan Saxena, Harsh Vardhan Singh and Mohit Nagelli.

All 13 attend a campus of about 3,750 students. The designation puts them among less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors, a group of roughly 16,000 selected from more than 1.3 million PSAT test-takers nationwide, according to Prosper ISD, citing the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

In Texas, students needed a Selection Index score of at least 219 to qualify for the Class of 2027 competition, according to score-tracking site Compass Prep.

Prosper ISD, which serves more than 34,000 students across four high schools, seven middle schools, 20 elementary schools and one early childhood school, has posted strong semifinalist numbers in recent cycles. The district had 13 semifinalists in the 2024 competition and 24 across all four high schools in the 2025 competition. Prosper High School accounted for 14 of those 24 in 2025.

The district confirmed a new class of 2026 semifinalists on its live feed in September but did not publish a full district-wide count.

About 95% of semifinalists advance to Finalist standing. Finalists become eligible to compete for roughly 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million combined, according to NMSC program materials cited by the district.

That matters for families. A Finalist designation can unlock scholarship dollars and strengthen college applications during a competitive admissions cycle.

Prosper ISD's next college-readiness event is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Children's Health Stadium Community Room, covering PSAT, SAT/ACT and TSIA2 (Texas Success Initiative Assessment) pathways. The district-wide PSAT is set for Wednesday, Oct. 7.
