A steakhouse and Tex-Mex fusion restaurant called 1902 will open Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 209 W. Broadway St. in downtown Prosper.

The restaurant announced the date on its Facebook page, first reported by Community Impact on Sept. 28. The opening had slipped from a late-September target that Community Impact reported in August.

1902 will start with dinner service only, operating its first-floor bar and dining room, the business said on social media. The menu was still being finalized as of Sept. 27 but will center on steaks and Tex-Mex fusion, according to the restaurant's website. The bar plans to serve craft cocktails and wine, per Community Impact's August report.

A second phase will add rooftop seating, brunch and lunch service, and a second-floor speakeasy called Mary Ann's. No timeline for those additions has been announced.

Chef Amy DiBiase is heading the kitchen, according to a July report from Prosper Local News. The Community Impact article published Sept. 28 did not mention DiBiase by name.

As of a Sept. 10 Community Impact business roundup, 1902 was still listed as "coming soon" with no confirmed opening date. The restaurant's Facebook page had drawn 3,355 followers by Sept. 29, a week before the scheduled opening.

The restaurant shares its name with Prosper's founding year. The town was established in 1902 when the St. Louis & San Francisco Railroad built its line through western Collin County, uniting two earlier settlements called Rockhill and Richland, according to the town's Downtown Master Plan.

Broadway Street is the spine of downtown Prosper's commercial corridor. Prosper Local News has described the street as a place where locally rooted businesses aim to offer something distinct from the chain-heavy retail along Preston Road and US-380. The Gin, another restaurant on Broadway Street, operates out of a building constructed in 1902, according to owner Michael Pettis.
