Thirteen Prosper High School seniors landed National Merit Semifinalist honors, placing them among the top 1% of test-takers nationwide.

The students were recognized based on their scores on the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT, or Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Prosper High School's 13 honorees are part of a larger group of 27 Prosper ISD students across all four district high schools who earned the distinction, according to a post on Richland High School's Instagram page on Sept. 17.

The 13 Prosper High School semifinalists are Sahasra Dittakavi, Shreshta Reddy Gangadi, Keerti Harish, Sanjay Jillellamudi, Shriya Katta, Sruthi Kotamraju, Anubhav Mohapatra, Shriya Nellore, Eeshan Parvataneni, Shreyansh Rath, Arihaan Saxena, Harsh Vardhan Singh and Mohit Nagelli, according to Eagle Nation Online, the student newspaper.

All 13 are seniors.

Nationwide, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation named more than 16,000 semifinalists for the 2027 program, the Houston Chronicle reported. Those students represent less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors and are now in the running for roughly 6,700 scholarships worth about $24 million.

The Richland High School post said all four Prosper ISD campuses are represented among the district's 27 semifinalists. The breakdown by campus beyond Prosper High School's 13 has not been released.

To advance to finalist status, semifinalists must complete a detailed application, maintain strong grades, earn a school endorsement, write an essay and submit a confirming SAT or ACT score. About 95% of semifinalists nationally are expected to become finalists, according to the Chronicle.

Scholarship winners are expected to be announced in spring 2027. Closer to home, Prosper High School is scheduled to administer the PSAT on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
