Prosper High School opens its doors Wednesday, Aug. 19, for "Meet the Eagles," a community showcase featuring all fall athletic and performing arts programs as the school enters its first year in the newly formed District 6-6A.
The event spotlights football, volleyball, cross country, tennis, aquatics, cheer, Talonettes and band, according to an announcement from the school's official account on X.
The showcase arrives one week after Prosper kicked off the 2026-27 athletic season with water polo and volleyball matchups against Southlake Carroll and Argyle on the first day of school, Aug. 12. We noted the event in our season-opening coverage that week.
New district, new rivals
The UIL's biennial realignment, announced in February, placed Prosper in District 6-6A for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 cycles. The Eagles will compete against Allen, Dallas Jesuit, McKinney, McKinney Boyd, Princeton, Prosper Rock Hill and newcomer Prosper Walnut Grove, which moved up from Class 5A.
The lineup is loaded.
Three Prosper ISD schools now share a district for the first time. For volleyball, Dallas Jesuit will not appear on the schedule because it is a private boys-only school, according to NBC DFW's realignment report.
The realignment also moved Celina from Class 4A to Class 5A, placing the Bobcats in District 4-5A Division II rather than alongside their Prosper-area neighbors.
What to know
"Meet the Eagles" takes place at Prosper High School on Wednesday, Aug. 19. The school has not announced a start time. Families looking for updates can follow @ProsperHS on X.
Wednesday's showcase marks the community's first chance to see all fall programs together before district competition begins later this fall.
