Prosper's two committees charged with shaping the town's historic core will hold a joint session Wednesday to discuss downtown activation and National Night Out.

The Community Engagement Committee (CEC) and the Downtown Advisory Committee (DTAC) are scheduled for a joint meeting Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Prosper Town Hall, 250 W. First St.

The format is unusual. Both panels typically meet on their own. The DTAC first floated a joint session at its July 6 meeting and placed it on the agenda as a formal item Aug. 3.

What's on the agenda

The agenda, certified by Town Secretary Michelle Lewis Sirianni on Aug. 27, lists four items after roll call and citizen comments, according to the posted document:

  • 2026 National Night Out presentation. The annual community-policing event is set for Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. A send-off gathering begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Prosper Police Station, 801 Safety Way. Police, fire and town officials plan to visit neighborhood block parties across town.
  • Downtown activation discussion. The agenda does not specify what "downtown activation" covers. The DTAC has discussed plaza programming and the Prosper On Tap event series at recent meetings. The town adopted a Downtown Master Plan in June 2022 that identified three signature public spaces and four private development catalyst sites for restaurant, retail, office, maker space and housing uses.
  • CEC subcommittee updates.
  • Voice of the Town.

The agenda carries a procedural note: if the DTAC lacks a quorum, the CEC may still interact with individual DTAC members who attend.

How to participate

The meeting is open to the public and ADA accessible. Residents who want to speak during citizen comments must fill out a Public Comment Form before the meeting starts. Forms are available on the town's website or in the meeting room and must go to the board chair or a staff member. Comments are limited to three minutes per speaker.

Residents needing special assistance should contact the Town Secretary's Office at (972) 569-1073 at least 48 hours before the meeting. Agendas and minutes are posted at prosper-tx.municodemeetings.com.
