Construction is underway to widen Coit Road between Vest Lane and Choate Parkway in Celina, replacing two asphalt lanes with a four-lane divided road.

The joint Celina–Collin County project has an estimated cost of $13.4 million. Celina lists completion in February 2027, while the county’s project update lists March 2027 and describes construction as 60% complete.

The work includes drainage improvements, roundabouts, signs, pavement markings, lighting and landscaping, according to the city’s project page. The corridor’s right-of-way will accommodate an eventual six-lane road.

Neither the city page nor the county’s construction update specifies how the two governments are dividing the cost.

A second widening project would continue north from Choate Parkway to the Collin County Outer Loop. The city estimates that segment at $4.29 million, with completion targeted for June 2027.

That section would also expand from two lanes to four, with space reserved for six. Its scope includes drainage, signs and pavement markings, but excludes lighting and landscaping. The city page does not specify its current construction status.

Together, the two widening projects carry an estimated cost of $17.7 million.

Celina says the improvements are intended to increase road capacity, improve safety and support planned residential and commercial development. Both completion dates remain estimates.
