Kyle Peck was sworn in Thursday, Aug. 27, as Celina's new assistant police chief after more than 11 years rising through the department's ranks.

Peck fills the vacancy left by Brent Brown, who departed to lead the Prosper Police Department as chief. The city announced the appointment on Wednesday, Aug. 26, and Peck took the oath at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Celina Police Headquarters Community Room.

The promotion caps a career that began in May 2015 when Peck joined Celina as a patrol officer. He moved to patrol sergeant in November 2016, criminal investigations sergeant in August 2019, patrol lieutenant in August 2022 and support services lieutenant in November 2024. In that most recent role, he oversaw recruitment, policy development, budgeting and administrative operations.

His rise was steady. Before Celina, Peck spent five years with the Gunter Police Department, giving him more than 16 years of total law enforcement experience.

"Kyle understands our culture, he understands our community, and, most importantly, he understands the responsibility we have to prepare this department for Celina's continued growth," Police Chief John Cullison said in the city's announcement.

Peck holds a Master Peace Officer License and has completed Leadership Celina through the Greater Celina Chamber of Commerce. In 2021, he became the first Celina officer to graduate from the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration's School of Police Supervision.

As assistant chief, Peck will work alongside Cullison to oversee the department and support officer development. Celina's police leadership now serves the nation's fastest-growing city among those with populations of 20,000 or more, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates. The city grew 24.6% between July 2024 and July 2025, reaching 64,427 residents.

Brown, who served as Celina's assistant chief before his departure, was named Prosper's police chief in June 2026. He brings more than 24 years of law enforcement experience to that role.
