Ashley Wysocki, a Republican, is running for Place 8 on Texas’ Fifth Court of Appeals in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. Democrat Andrea D. Plumlee is the other certified candidate, according to the state’s election records.
The Dallas-based Fifth Court of Appeals serves counties including Collin and Rockwall and hears appeals from district and county courts.
Background
Wysocki currently serves on Dallas County’s 301st Judicial District Court. Gov. Greg Abbott announced that appointment on Jan. 30, 2026.
Her campaign biography describes earlier service on the 254th, 162nd and 44th district courts and private practice in civil, commercial and family law. It lists a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from Texas Tech University.
Approach and responsibilities
Wysocki’s campaign emphasizes experience across civil and family courts. The campaign page reviewed does not lay out a detailed appellate-administration proposal, implementation budget or timetable.
An appellate justice reviews legal issues raised in cases rather than creating a general legislative agenda. Decisions can affect local families, businesses and other litigants, but a candidate’s experience does not establish how the court would resolve a future case.
The office does not independently set taxes or fund new government programs.
The Prosper-Celina Journal did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
