Democrat Amanda Reichek faces Republican Matthew Kolodoski in the Nov. 3, 2026, election for Place 3 on Texas’s 5th Court of Appeals, according to the state’s certified ballot.

Experience

Reichek served in the court’s Place 10 seat from 2019 through 2024, according to her campaign biography. She is seeking a different seat on the same court.

Her biography lists a law degree from Texas Tech University and board certification in labor and employment law. She worked in employment-law practice before serving on the court and currently works at a Dallas litigation firm, according to the campaign.

Judicial approach and authority

Reichek’s campaign emphasizes fairness and her prior appellate experience. Those statements do not establish how she would decide any particular dispute.

The Dallas-based court hears civil and criminal appeals from Collin, Dallas, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman and Rockwall counties. Cases generally go before three-justice panels, which review the trial-court record and legal briefs.

Its decisions can affect residents involved in appealed criminal cases and civil disputes. Denton County is outside this appellate district. A justice decides legal questions rather than passing legislation or setting local tax rates.
