Prosper's annual Veterans Day Honor Run returns to Frontier Park on Saturday, Nov. 7, with 10K, 5K and one-mile fun run options open to runners and walkers of all ages.

The morning starts with an opening ceremony at 8 a.m., followed by the race events and fun run, according to the Town of Prosper's event page. A medal ceremony for top finishers in each race closes the day.

The event is held at Frontier Park, 1551 Frontier Pkwy. Children, parents pushing strollers and individuals using wheelchairs are welcome, according to the event listing on RunThis.

Proceeds from the Honor Run benefit the Prosper Veterans Memorial, a planned permanent site at Frontier Park that would recognize veterans who served in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. The Prosper Rotary Club is leading fundraising and construction planning for the memorial, with the Town of Prosper providing the land and ongoing maintenance.

The project carries a $600,000 cost estimate for design and construction, according to the Rotary Club. The club said it has received pledges for approximately half that amount and has committed to donating $25,000 per year toward the effort. Prosper Independent School District and the Prosper Economic Development Corporation are also involved in the project.

The Oct. 25 deadline to guarantee an event T-shirt and finisher medal has passed. The town's event page still links to registration, though it does not specify whether late sign-ups are available. Residents can contact Prosper Parks & Recreation at 972-569-1160 for details.

That's four days before Veterans Day on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
