Prosper police officers, firefighters and town officials will visit neighborhood block parties across Prosper on Tuesday, Oct. 6, as part of the annual National Night Out.

The event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to the Town of Prosper's National Night Out page. An official sendoff gathering begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Prosper Police Station, 801 Safety Way, where first responders and officials will head out to registered neighborhoods.

Residents who want a visit from police, fire or town officials must submit a request form by Friday, Oct. 2. The form is available on the town's National Night Out page at prospertx.gov/178/National-Night-Out.

Hosting a block party

The town encourages all residents to host or join a neighborhood block party on Oct. 6. Most residential gatherings do not require a permit, according to Prosper Local News. Organizers who plan to block off a street, hire food trucks or set up a stage for entertainment will need a special permit application.

National Night Out is a nationwide campaign aimed at strengthening ties between police and the communities they serve. The Prosper Police Officers Association, in a recap published in June, described the event as a way to strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement and make neighborhoods safer through camaraderie.

Prosper has held the event for several years. In 2025, officers visited block parties from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 7, 2025, with a sendoff at 5:30 p.m. This year's sendoff begins an hour earlier than last year's, and officer visits start at 5 p.m. instead of 6 p.m.

Other October events

National Night Out on Oct. 6 falls well ahead of the Celebrate Prosper Hometown Harvest Fair. Prosper Local News reports the fair is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1551 Frontier Pkwy.
