Prosper residents can get hands-on tree-planting lessons at a free Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, Nov. 6.
The Prosper Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the event from 5 to 6 p.m. at Fire Station 2, 1140 S. Teel Pkwy., according to a city announcement. The gathering will feature live demonstrations, tree plantings and tips on tree care and maintenance. Residents are encouraged to bring questions.
Nov. 6 is also the official Texas Arbor Day. The Texas A&M Forest Service notes that late fall through early spring is the best window for planting trees in Texas because cooler temperatures allow time for root development.
