Prosper suffered its first loss of the season Friday, Sept. 18, falling 51-21 to No. 4 Allen in the District 6-6A opener at Children's Health Stadium.

Allen sophomore quarterback Ty Snell passed for 267 yards and three touchdowns, and wide receiver Josyah Johnson hauled in six catches for 144 yards and two scores. Allen improved to 4-0. Prosper dropped to 3-1.

The game, selected as the FOX 4 Game of the Week, was lopsided almost from the start. Allen kicker Sam Smado opened the scoring with a 32-yard field goal. Prosper answered when Marcus McCoy made a one-handed catch in double coverage to set up a scoring drive, and quarterback Tyler Albert punched in a 1-yard keeper. Albert then hit McCoy on a 5-yard touchdown pass to give Prosper a 14-9 lead.

The advantage lasted 90 seconds.

Snell connected with Johnson on a 32-yard touchdown to retake the lead at 16-14, then hit him again from 70 yards out to make it 23-14. Allen trailed for only 90 seconds all night, according to High School On SI's live updates.

Allen's defense matched the offense. Defensive lineman Jacobie Wilkerson recorded two first-half sacks. On one, D'Mand Smith scooped the fumble and returned it for a touchdown. Beckhem Parker stuffed Albert on a fourth-and-1 keeper inside the Allen 30 late in the second quarter.

The second half belonged to Allen. Snell found Zach Williams on a 10-yard scoring pass to open the third quarter. Lyndon Spriggs added a 9-yard touchdown run, and Dominic Butler returned a special-teams fumble 6 yards for another score before picking off a Prosper pass near the end of the period. Jrue Simmons broke a 55-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to push the lead to 51-14. Prosper's Atley Kramer caught a 13-yard scoring pass from Albert for the final margin.

Albert finished with three total touchdowns for Prosper. He entered the game with 977 passing yards and 17 touchdowns without an interception through three games, including a 49-40 win over Austin Westlake on Sept. 11.

The day before the game, Albert told Eagle Nation Online that beating Allen was at the top of his list: "I want to win district this year … Beating Allen and Walnut Grove would be the two games that I'm hyper focused on."

Allen entered the week ranked No. 4 in Class 6A in the Dave Campbell's Texas Football poll and No. 2 in the High School On SI Texas Top 25. Prosper was ranked No. 18 in Class 6A. Head coach Lee Wiginton's Allen squad has now won four straight, including a 56-35 rout of Southlake Carroll in Week 3.

Both teams continue District 6-6A play. The district includes McKinney High, McKinney Boyd, Princeton, Dallas Jesuit, Prosper Rock Hill and Prosper Walnut Grove.
