Celina residents hoping to work out at the new EoS Fitness on Preston Road will have to wait an extra year. The gym chain has pushed its planned opening from 2026 to 2027, according to an update on the company's website.

The facility at 200 W. Ownsby Pkwy., at the southeast corner of South Preston Road and Ownsby Parkway, was first reported in a Dec. 1, 2025, Community Impact article with a 2026 target. Community Impact reported the timeline change Thursday, July 23. EoS has not publicly explained the delay.

The Celina location is one of 18 Texas gyms EoS Fitness lists as opening in 2027, including sites in McKinney, The Colony, and Carrollton, according to the chain's coming-soon page.

Celina Watch describes the project as a $6 million ground-up development spanning nearly 40,000 square feet. Planned amenities listed on the EoS website include group fitness classes, an outdoor workout area called The Backyard, a recovery space called The Tank, a CryoLounge, and a cinema room. The gym will be open 24/7. Amenities vary by location, and EoS has not confirmed which features will be available at the Celina site.

Memberships at EoS locations start at $9.99 per month.

The delay comes as Celina continues to grow faster than almost anywhere in the country. U.S. Census Bureau data released in May showed Celina added more than 12,710 residents between July 2024 and July 2025, a 24.6% jump that made it the fastest-growing U.S. city with a population over 20,000. The city has nearly quadrupled since 2020, when it counted just 18,033 residents.

"It attracts a lot of like-minded young families that want to be in new communities," Celina Mayor Ryan Tubbs told The Texas Tribune on May 14, when the census figures were released.

EoS has not announced a groundbreaking date or specific opening month for 2027. The company's website lists only the year.
